The first thing you need to clean pots and pre-prepare the soil for planting. It should be rich in a large number of nutrients. - you need to make sure they have good drainage;
- no pests should not be in them;
- they should not show any signs of disease;
- naturally, they need to be completely clean. 
In addition, it is also important that the pot for planting was in a good condition. After all, it should not fall apart halfway. Namely, if it occurs during the growing season, the plant can be injured or may die at all. Then a few helpful hints will be given below. Tips for cleaning the containers: in any situation, regardless of the purpose of previous use of the pot, if you choose to plant something into it, it is important first of all to wash it with non-aggressive detergent. Before this it is worth to check the pot for the presence of any damage. If the damage is minor, it is necessary to correct them before you start planting. If you put the plant in a container with cracks, the under pressure of the soil and water, the container will crack right in the vegetation period. If you have found considerable damage on the pot, it is best to get a new one.
Drainage for the container: if your pot is not equipped with a special drainage, then the plant can quickly perish. Because too much water may swamp soil and roots of the plant, as a result, you get sick or dead plants. Special holes must be present at the bottom of the pot for drainage of excess moisture. It is possible independently to drill these holes. And so they will not clog with mud, it is required to put gravel on discharge of the pot. A layer of gravel should be about two inches.
It should be understood that if your plant is on the surface that must be protected from moisture, it is important to provide a special tray under the pot. So you can catch all the excess moisture and does not mar the surface.
